Small Truths micro-essay 2020 awarded to Katrina Dernelley
We are pleased to announce that the inaugural Small Truths micro-essay prize was awarded to Katrina Dernelley. Aesop and The Saturday Paper extend warm congratulations to Katrina, and sincere thanks to all who submitted an entry in 2020.
I walk in the rain and I can smell the coppiced eucalypts. Golden soil clings to my feet. Small grey round leaves. Dainty fairy skirts of lemon raspberry. A landscape of young stems, cut down by colonists. Held strong, nourished, by ancient roots. Existing both in and through time.
